Aurora Chorus sings “Lifting as We Climb”
International Women’s Day Event!
“Any great change must expect opposition, because it shakes the very foundation of privilege.”
These words of 19th century abolitionist and feminist Lucretia Mott set the tone for Aurora Chorus’ 7th Annual International Women’s Day. Join Aurora as we celebrate and sing for the “movers and the shakers” —the strong women of our world who seek to empower themselves with words and with action; women like Rosa Parks and Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The year 2020 also marks the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which granted women in America the right to vote. Aurora will offer a taste of Artistic Director Joan Szymko’s new major work “Lifting as We Climb” — a celebration of this pivotal moment in history.
