*Virtual Event for Educators* Nevertheless, They Persisted: Introduction to Voting Rights History Curriculum Online
Please note that this program is for educators only.
As our state and nation commemorate the centennial of woman suffrage, engage in a presidential election season, and respond to large-scale protests for social justice, the history of voting rights will be especially engaging and relevant for middle- and high-school students. This workshop introduces teachers to the 13 lessons for those grades created in coordination with the Oregon Historical Society’s exhibit, Nevertheless, They Persisted: Women’s Voting Rights and the Nineteenth Amendment. From intersectionality to citizenship, the lessons cover material that both includes and goes far beyond the woman suffrage movement. Attendees to this workshop will learn about the essential understandings anchoring this series of lesson and will gain familiarity with the lesson-plan format, which includes supports for all learners, applications to state standards, and minor modifications needed for distance learning.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Oregon Heritage Commission and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
